Xavier Tops Eastern Kentucky in Women's Tennis

RICHMOND, Ky. - The Xavier University women's tennis recorded its third-straight win of the season on Friday evening as the Musketeers defeated Eastern Kentucky 5-2 at the Greg Adams Tennis Center on the EKU campus. XU improves to 4-1 on the season with the win while the Colonels drop to 3-2.
Xavier took the early 1-0 advantage in the match with a sweep of the three doubles matches. Kristen Clary and Kara Courtney improved to 13-5 on the season with an 8-4 win over Ina Durcakova and Jemma Euers at No. 1. At No. 3, Jeanette Feider and Kate Lohner teamed up for the first time in doubles and recorded an 8-4 defeat of Lucia Vojtkova and Kim Underdonk. Alicia Papa and Jackie Vilines completed the XU sweep at No. 2 where the junior duo posted a 9-7 win over Meredith Giles and Terin Roof.
In singles action, Xavier recorded victories in four of the six matches to earn the team win. After trailing 3-2 in the first set at No. 1, Clary won the next nine games en route to picking up her 93rd career win with a 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Giles. At No. 4, Emily Tuchscherer also battled back from an early deficit as the senior trailed 5-2 in the first set before posting a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Euers.
Senior Sarah Potts clinched the win for XU with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Underdonk at No. 6. Sophomore Annie Diedalis recorded the final win of the night for the Musketeers at No. 5 where she posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Roof.
XU will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 18 when the Musketeers will play host to Bowling Green at 12:00 p.m.
