Musketeers Fall At St. Bonaventure

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The Xavier women’s soccer team held off St. Bonaventure for 73 minutes. However, the Bonnies (8-7, 5-1 A-10) rallied late and defeated Xavier (2-13-1, 1-6-1 A-10) 2-0 in Atlantic 10 action Sunday.
SBU forward Hanna Lapp followed a rebound off a penalty kick for the first goal of the match in the 74th minute. Courtney Bosse scored the Bonnies’ final goal in the 89th minute to seal the win.
XU senior goalkeeper Kelly Farrell pulled down four saves in a complete game effort. St. Bonaveture keeper Nicole Markert earned a single save on the day.
Jessica Brooks led the Musketeers in shooting for the fourth straight match with two shots including one on goal.
The Xavier defense held firm for most of the match as SBU took 16 shots against the Musketeers.
Xavier returns home for the final home matches of the season October 23 versus Massachusetts at 7 p.m. and October 25 versus Rhode Island at 1 p.m. at the Xavier Soccer Complex.
