PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Xavier women’s soccer team (2-8-1, 1-1-1 A-10) earned their first conference victory of the season Friday evening with a 1-0 shutout of Atlantic 10 rival LaSalle (6-4-2, 0-2-1 A-10). Freshman Susie Pauley scored her first career goal in the 48th minute to give the Musketeers the victory.
LaSalle outshot the Musketeers 17-2 but the XU defense held firm as senior goalkeeper Kelly Farrell pulled down 11 saves. Xavier also earned a team save.
Pauley and junior Kaitlyn McGoldrick took Xavier’s only two shots of the match with Pauley’s goal being the only shot on goal. Justine Hartigan was credited with the assist on Pauley’s goal.
Xavier will continue the road trip Sunday afternoon as they face Fordham in Atlantic 10 play. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
