
Women's Soccer Team Suffers Shutout Loss In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA --- The Xavier University women’s soccer team was shut out 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Saint Joseph’s.
Saint Joseph’s scored the match’s first goal at 32:49 when Lauren Sawyer was able to shoot the ball over the head of Xavier goalkeeper Kelly Farrell and into the net. It proved to be the game-winning goal.
The Hawks added an insurance goal from Ali Yozwiak just prior to the halftime at 44:37. Two second-half goals from Jen Pfeiffer provided the final margin of victory, 4-0.
Saint Joseph’s dominated the statistics and the scoreboard on Sunday, tallying an 18-3 advantage in shots and an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Xavier, 0-1-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and 1-8-1 overall, continues its three-match road stretch with matches at La Salle and at Fordham next weekend.
Saint Joseph’s, which raised its records to 1-1-0 in the A-10 and 3-4-2 overall, got three saves and a shutout effort in goal from Christine Neal.
