
Xavier Men Take First, Women Second At Butler Invite

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Xavier swim team had a stellar day at the Butler Invitational in Indianapolis Sunday. The Musketeers took first place in the men's competition and second in the women's meet. Senior Nathan Green earned three first place finishes in individual competition and helped XU capture first in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Green was first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:43.10. Sophomore David Gordon followed Green in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:50.27. Green was just short of a new school record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 46.75 and a first place finish. He also edged teammate Michael Zennedjian for top spot in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:43.42.
Gordon was first in the 1,650 freestyle with 16:27.72. Zennedjian also had a big day with first place finishes in the 400 freestyle relay, the 400 individual medley, and the 200 medley relay.
In women's action, freshman Courtney Cox took first in the 1,650 yard freestyle with a time of 17:56.45 and the 500 freestyle with a 5:13.82 mark.
Senior Kari Peglar took first place in the women's 200 yard freestyle and 200 yard backstroke. Mary Poslaski's time of 2:27.01 was good enough for first place in the 200 yard breaststroke. She also took second in the 400 individual medley.
Bethanie Griffin posted a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.28.
Xavier will travel to Eastern Michigan for a 5 p.m. contest on January, 28.
