Musketeers Finish Challenge at Onion Creek in Seventh

AUSTIN, Texas- The Xavier women's golf team finished in seventh place at the Challenge at Onion Creek today shooting a 301-301-297=899 (+59). Junior Breanna Patz finished tied for 19th with her 13-over-par 223 (75-74-74) at the par 70, 5,808 yard Onion Creek Golf Course.
This was Patz's first top-20 finish of the season and her 13th of her career. Sophomore Christine Cash fired a 16-over-par 226 (80-71-75) and finished tied for 27th for the two-day tournament. Senior Michelle Winkler shot a season-best 73 for the final round giving her a score of 227 (76-78-73). Sophomore Ariel McNair finished one stroke back from Winkler with a 228 (+18) and finished tied for 36th. Yesterday in the second round Winkler recorded a hole-in-one on the sixth hole, the first of her career.
Junior Kristin Tan rounded out the tournament with a 234 (76-78-80). Freshman Abby Smith and junior Alexandra Lake competed as individuals at Onion Creek. Smith posted a 29-over-par 239 (79-79-81) while Lake fired a 264 (86-92-86).
Texas Tech won the tournament with a score of 874 (288-291-295) while Gabriella Dominguez of Texas Tech was the medalist firing a two-over-par 212 (70-69-73).
The Musketeers will resume their season in March at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Ariz.
