Xavier Men's Tennis Defeats Temple 5-2

CINCINNATI- The Xavier men's tennis team earned a tough win against A-10 opponent Temple on Sunday, winning 5-2. The Musketeers improve their record to 8-9 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
Senior Bobby Deye defeated Filip Rams in the singles match in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 and sophomore Brandon MacDonald beat Dmitry Vuzhunov 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 in the third spot. Freshman Mesa Mei defeated Kacper Rams 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 and senior Brian Starr earned the victory over Taylor Hairston 6-4, 6-1 in the sixth spot.
In the doubles match Starr and junior Patrick Bandy came out victorious against Filip Rams and Andrey Muruzov 8-5 while freshman Jimmy Roebker and Deye come out on top versus Taylor Hairston and Mansur Gishkaev 8-4.
"I'm very proud of our team. Temple is a good squad and this is probably our best win of the season. Wining a close match like this should give us a lot of confidence the rest of this season" said Assistant Coach Doug Matthews.
XU hosts Bradley Friday at 7 p.m. at Eastern Hills.
