CINCINNATI -- The Xavier baseball team had a rough outing Wednesday as the Musketeers dropped a 22-2 decision against Kent State. With the loss, the Musketeers fell to 14-8 on the season while the Golden Flashes improved to 10-9.
Ryan Mace earned the win for the Golden Flashes in five innings of action to improve to 2-1. Freshman right hander Scott Klever fell to 0-1 with the loss in two innings of action.
The two teams were tied at 0-0 heading into the bottom of the first when a thunderstorm caused an hour and fifteen minute rain delay. After the game resumed, the Flashes went on a roll in the top of the second by scoring five runs. KSU would never look back as they cruised to the win.
Xavier will return to action Friday as they host Temple in the first of the three-game series at Hayden Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday's first pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
