CINCINNATI -- The Xavier men's tennis team fell to 1-4 on the season after falling to Ball State 5-2 Saturday afternoon.
"To beat good teams like Ball State, you have to play to win and execute in the clutch," said Xavier head coach Eric Toth. "Our effort was really good for the most part today, but we just didn't convert on big points on enough courts today."
Sophomores Jimmy Roebker and Mesa Mei posted the Musketeers two singles wins. Roebker earned a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win over Dalton Albertin at No. 1. Mei took down Zane Smith 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2. However, the Cardinals managed to hold off senior Richard Canelas and junior Brandon MacDonald in three-set battles at No. 3 and No. 4.
Xavier hits the road for a double-header at Cleveland State Friday, February 10.
