
Musketeers Finish 12th in Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz- The Xavier women's golf team finished in 12th place out of 16 schools at the 2012 Rio Verde Invitational. The Musketeers had their best day of the tournament as they shot a 309 and had a tournament total of 947 (+95). Sophomore Christine Cash led the way for XU with a 20-over-par 233 (79-78-76). Cash finished tied for 26th in the field of 85 competitors.
Senior Michelle Winkler shot a 22-over-par 235 (76-82-77) and ended the three-day tournament tied for 36th place. Winkler had the eighth lowest tournament score on the par three's at Quail Run with an average score of 3.25. Junior Breanna Patz finished the tournament tied in 50th place with a score of 239 (+26).
Kristin Tan fired a tournament total 235, finishing tied for 55th place. Tan started the tournament slow but fired back-to-back 77 to finish the tournament. Freshman Abby Smith ended the tournament in 83rd place with a score of 261 (+48).
Kansas won the 2012 Rio Verde Invitational with a score of 900 (+48) and Kristen Hill of Akron was the medalist as she shot a six-over-par 219.
