
Musketeers Place Fourth in UC Spring Invite

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla.- Michelle Winkler shot a 12-over-par 228 (77-73-78) to lead the Xavier women’s golf team to a fourth place finish at the 2012 UC Spring Invitational. The Musketeers shot a 62-over-par 926 (304-305-317). This was the Musketeer’s fourth top-five finish of the season, and the second in the last three tournaments.
Winkler finished tied for 13th place in the field of 102 competitors. Winkler was tied for sixth in the field with a scoring average of 4.20 on the course’s par-4. Junior Breanna Patz fired 230 (73-76-81) and placed tied for 22nd. Kristin Tan finished alone in 35th with a score of 234 (+18).
Sophomore Christine Cash shot her lowest round of tournament on Sunday with a 77. Cash finished with a total score of 237 (+21). Freshman Abby Smith shot a 246 (79-85-82) and was tied for 71st place. Ariel McNair, who competed as an individual, has tied for 68th as she shot a 245 (+29). Alexandra Lake, who also was an individual, shot a 256, with her best round of the tournament in the final round with an 81.
Florida International captured the title with a team score of 878 (+14) and Shelby Coyle was the medalist with a three-under-par 213.
