Men's tennis recap from first two days of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship
Knoxville, Tenn. --- The Xavier men's tennis team battled through days one and two of the ITA Ohio Valley Championship.
On Thursday, the Musketeers fought tough in singles and doubles play despite the results. Matt Bishop and Gabriel Araujo found big success in doubles main draw Thursday, defeating the Ross/Chari (Vanderbilt) duo 8-1.
Friday, the men rebounded and were able to pull off some very impressive victories. Matt Bishop redeemed himself in the single consolation match, defeating Max Grobbelaar (UTC) 6-2, 6-1. Jack Dykema and Gabe Araujo also were victorious in their single consolation matches. Bishop is set to play at 9:00 am tomorrow morning, Dykema at 10:00am and Araujo at 10:30am.
"We fought hard Thursday, but had some tough draws and played some tough players," assistant coach John Allare stated regarding single and doubles play. "We are focusing on ending the fall season on a positive note and must play with more fire, more positive emotion, and less getting down on ourselves."
