Musketeers open the season on Dec. 3 at the Mastodon Opener
CINCINNATI - Xavier track and field has announced its schedule for the 2016-17 season. The Musketeers open the indoor season on Dec. 3 at the Mastodon Opener in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Mastodon Opener will be Xavier's lone meet in 2016 before opening the new year at the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 13-14. Xavier will compete in six indoor meets before the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25.
The championships will be held at the state-of-the-art Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y., for the second straight season. Xavier set five school records at the meet last year and had four athletes earn all-conference honors.
The outdoor season opens on March 18 as the Musketeers travel to the Stan Lyons Invitational hosted by Butler. Xavier will compete in 10 outdoor meets highlighted by the Penn Relays on April 26-29.
The BIG EAST Outdoor Championships will be hosted by Villanova on May 13-14 for the second time in the last three years. The Musketeers return five of their six athletes who earned all-conference honors at the championship meet last season. Â
