Imani Partlow led Xavier with first career double-double
CININNATI - Xavier women's basketball improved to 5-0 on the season with an 86-53 victory over Delaware State on Thursday at Cintas Center. The Musketeers scored a season high 86 points with help from three Musketeers who scored double digits, led by Imani Partlow's first career double-double.
Partlow finished with 18 points on 9-for-12 shooting, while adding 11 rebounds.
Xavier went on a 19-7 run to open the first half fueled by Partlow's eight points and five rebounds. The Musketeers led the Lady Hornets, 42-19, at the break. Marquia Turner and Partlow paced the Musketeers with 12 points each, while Partlow added seven rebounds. The Musketeers' bench also outscored the Lady Hornets 23-2 in the first half.
Xavier outscored Delaware State, 28-6, on points in the paint. Leah Schaefer found Partlow down low twice for a quick four points, leading the Musketeers with three assists to end the first half.
The Musketeers maintained its double-figure lead throughout the second half and led by as many as 33 points down the stretch. Xavier was 14-for-25 from the floor in the second half as the Musketeers finished the contest with their second-highest field-goal percentage on the year (.508). Xavier also knocked down a season-high 32 field goals.
Turner shot 55.6 percent from three-point range, hitting a career-high five three pointers (5-for-9). She ended the game with a career-high 18 points to go along with three assists.
Xavier outrebounded Delaware State, 49-28. The Musketeers grabbed 15 offensive rebounds and 34 defensive rebounds led by Partlow's 11 boards. Schaefer added seven rebounds for the Musketeers.
The Musketeers also outscored the Lady Hornets, 22-9, on second chance points and ended the game outscoring Delaware State, 46-28, on points in paint. Xavier's bench also outscored Delaware State, 41-4.
The Musketeers return to Cintas Center on Monday, Dec. 5 against Michigan at 7 p.m.
