Colonels Snap Musketeers' Win Streak At Four

RICHMOND, Kentucky – Men's tennis opened up its first of two matches scheduled for this weekend, facing off against the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky, February 19th. After a long three-hour match, the Colonels claimed victory, defeating the Musketeers, 4-3.
The Musketeers were unsuccessful in obtaining the doubles point to begin the afternoon, falling quickly behind 0-1 in competition. With little momentum, the Musketeers headed into singles competition, looking to claw out a victory.
In singles, the Musketeers immediately turned the tide, earning big wins at the No. 2, 4 and 1 positions. Jeremy Schneider (3-3) sparked the run, defeating Sebastian Mueller in two sets, 6-3, 6-3. Arthur Stefani (5-1) followed up his teammate's performance, shifting the momentum with another huge two set win, 6-4, 6-2, against Diogo Soares. Zach Mueck (4-0) fed off this momentum, and tacked on another win for the Musketeers to give the go-ahead 3-1 lead over Eastern Kentucky, with three matches still in play. The Musketeers, however, were unable to convert this lead into an overall win, dropping the final three sets, and falling short, 4-3, to Eastern Kentucky.
Men's tennis now stands 4-2 overall this season, snapping a four game win streak for the squad. The team will be back in action, February 20th, to complete its weekend of tennis action against IUPUI. Dual match play will be held at Eastern Hills Tennis club and will begin 6 P.M.
