Joe Gellenbeck Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Junior slugged team-leading sixth home run against Cincinnati on Saturday
NEW YORK – Junior Joe Gellenbeck was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in his career on Monday after leading Xavier baseball with a .471 batting average across four games last week.
The Lebanon, Ohio native went 8-for-17 during the four games and put up an .882 slugging percentage, pacing XU with eight hits, four doubles and five RBI.
On Saturday, he homered for the sixth time this season to help the Musketeers to a 6-3 over crosstown rival Cincinnati. The blast continued an impressive streak, which has seen the first baseman/outfielder homer in all six of XU's weekend series this season.
Overall, Gellenbeck leads Xavier with 16 RBI this season and is tied for the team lead with six homers and six doubles. His .294 batting average, 49 total bases and .576 slugging percentage are all second on the squad.
Xavier baseball returns to action on Tuesday, March 29 when the Musketeers welcome Wright State to Hayden Field for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
