Saturday’s meet will be hosted by Cincinnati at Gettler Stadium
CINCINNATI – Xavier track and field continues it outdoor season at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati on April 2. The meet will be held at Gettler Stadium and Coy Field.
The following schools will have athletes participating at the meet: Bowling Green (women), Butler, Cincinnati, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan (women), Indianapolis, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio (women), Ohio State, Shawnee State, Tiffin and Xavier.
"Grayson Jenkins will be racing the 3000-meter steeple for the first time in his career on Saturday. Grayson is tall, athletic and has a very good jumping ability for someone who's never done the event. Although it's his fist steeple, I think he will do well within the field and expand his range of events on the track. Jordan Shepherd, who first raced the steeple at the outdoor BIG EAST Championship last year, will look to improve upon that performance and be put himself in a position to score in that event this season."
"The men's 4x100 will be making their season debut on Saturday. We've got a ton of talented guys in the 100, so I'm really looking forward to what relay combinations Coach Fuca can come up with in this event. As long as they are healthy and can the stick around, we should have one of the top 4x100's in the BIG EAST."
"That same group of guys will also be doubling in the 100-meter dash and should see some great competition from the University of Cincinnati."
"Nolan Daniels comes into the 800-meter run seeded fourth, but I think he's ready for a breakthrough performance. His workouts have gone really well over the past two weeks and I know he's ready to improve on his best 800 time from last year."
"Caroline Gosser will be racing in her first outdoor meet. After taking some time off after the indoor season, she looks really strong again and will be going for the win in the 5,000-meter run."
"I put a number of our top 5K women in the 1,500-meter run this weekend to work on velocity and run an off event before getting back into their primary event in California. Sarah, Maddie and Allison all have a great shot at finishing in the top five in the 1,500-meter run and I'm excited to see them run an event they don't normally focus on."
"Sydney Larkin qualified for the fast heat of the women's 400-meter dash. She's come a long way over the past year and I think will matchup very well against some strong competition from both UC and Dayton."
"Both Tori Chiller and Sarah Clark made the fast heat of the 800-meter run and both are in a position to score."
