David Morton Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

Musketeer senior second baseman hit .462 in weekend sweep of USC Upstate
NEW YORK – Senior second baseman David Morton was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday after hitting .462 during a three-win weekend for Xavier baseball.
A Cincinnati, Ohio native and Turpin graduate, Morton led XU in batting average (6-for-13, .462), hits (6), RBI (4), slugging percentage (.692) and total bases (9). He had at least one RBI and one hit in all three games, including a pair of multi-hit games – tying a career-high with three hits in the weekend opener.
Morton also homered for the second time in his career in the second inning of Saturday's 3-2 win, launching his first longball since the 2014 season. He is now riding a four-game hitting streak.
Xavier gets Wright State on Tuesday, March 8 in its first midweek game of the season. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Nischwitz Stadium in Fairborn, Ohio.
