Sophomore Jose Montaño Tied for Second Heading into Final Round in South Carolina

BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Xavier men's golf team concluded the first two rounds of the Colleton River Collegiate this afternoon in South Carolina. Sophomore Jose Montaño is tied for second heading into the final round tomorrow morning after firing a second round 71 (-1) this afternoon. The Bolivia native is +1 for the tournament.
Xavier, as a team, is in sixth place out of twelve teams after shooting a combined score of 605 (+25). The Musketeers shot 298 (+10) in the morning and 307 (+19) in the afternoon.
Freshman Daniel Wetterich is tied for 22nd after shooting 74-77 in the first two rounds for a total of 151 (+7). The Cincinnati native is tied for the team with 24 pars.
Graduate Student John Burger is tied for 33rd, coming out strong with a 74 (+2) in the morning and a 79 (+7) in the afternoon for a total of 153 (+9).
A pair of Musketeers sits tied for 56th. Junior Fox Morrissey shot 78-80 in the first two rounds, and classmate Matt Wetterich shot 76-82 for combined scores of 158 (+14).
Senior Matt Gerard, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 61st after shooting 81-78 for a total of 159 (+15).
Freshman Ryan Podufal is competing as an individual in his first tournament as a Musketeer.
Final round begins tomorrow morning with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
