Jose Montaño Named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week

Sophomore tied career-high with a 67 at the Hoosier Collegiate
NEW YORK – Sophomore men's golf standout Jose Montaño was named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week on Thursday after finishing runner-up at the prestigious Hoosier Collegiate at Otter Creek from April 9-10.
Montaño fired a final round 67 (-5) on day two of the tournament, tying his career-low 18-hole score and earning a top-three finish for a fourth straight event. He shot 74, 67 (-3) overall at the rain-shortened event to finish one stroke off the medalist position. It was the second time Montaño broke 70 this year and his 12th round at par or better.
His dominant finish also helped XU finish third overall in a field of 13 teams.
Thursday's award was the second time Montaño, the unanimous 2015 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, has been honored with a weekly award by the conference.
The Musketeers will be back in action this weekend at The Rutherford, hosted by Penn State University.
