Dan Rizzie Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Senior catcher led XU with .474 batting average last week
CINCINNATI – Senior catcher Daniel Rizzie was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after leading Xavier baseball with a .474 batting average in five games last week.
The Orland Park, Ill. native went 9-for-19 in games against Wright State, Kentucky and Illinois State last week. Rizzie also put up three multi-hit games, a .565 on-base percentage and a team-high five runs. Against Illinois State, Rizzie batted .462 (6-for-13) to help the Musketeers to a series win.
A preseason All-BIG EAST selection, Rizzie is now batting .297 on the year with three homers and 13 RBI – including a .435 mark over his last 12 starts that has brough his season batting average up 80 points (from .217 to .297). Defensively, he's thrown out 12 attempted base stealers.
Xavier returns to action today at Ball State. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. ET.
