Â
• Jose Montaño earned BIG EAST Golfer of the Week twice in the spring, once after finishing runner-up at the Hoosier Collegiate at Otter Creek, and twice after finishing runner-up at the Rutherford Intercollegiate.
Â
• Daniel Wetterich earned Freshman of the Year in the BIG EAST Conference, making it two straight years a Xavier golfer has won the award. Wetterich averaged 73.29 strokes and carded a career-low score of 67 (-5) in his rookie campaign.
Â
• Jose Montaño ended his season at the NCAA Regional in Franklin, Tennessee. The sophomore finished tied for 22nd [212, -4].

Â
• Longtime men's golf coach Doug Steiner retired at the end of the spring season. Steiner led the Xavier team to five NCAA Regional appearances between 2001-06 and had individuals qualify for the NCAA Regional six times between 2007-16. A number of Xavier golf alums are playing professionally, including Jayson Kokrak on the PGA Tour.
• "Quite simply, Doug made a tremendous impact on Xavier Golf," said Xavier Athletics Director Greg Christopher.
