Britton Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team

Junior runner earns the honors following a breakout 2015-16 season
NEW ORLEANS – Junior Madeline Britton was recently named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team. The standout runner is the first athlete to earn the honors since Clare Fischer in 2014.
A total of 910 women from 192 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2015-16 track and field season.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
The Bay Village, Ohio, native competed at the NCAA East Regional in May, racing in the 10,000-meter run. Running in the event for only the third time during her Xavier career, she placed 43rd (out of 48 runners) in the event with a time of 37:05.99.
• All-BIG EAST Performer in cross country
• Placed 18th at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships
• Posted the 3rd fastest 6K time in XU cross country history (20:29.1)
• Set the indoor XU track record in the 5,000-meter run (16:57.23) at the BIG EAST Championships
• Set a PR in the outdoor 10K with a time of 34:48.93 at the Penn Relays

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
- For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
