Three Women's Golfers Named WGCA Academic All-American Scholars

Xavier has had multiple honorees every year going back to 2010
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Three Xavier women's golfers – Shane Crutchfield, Rachel Johnson and Lindsey Murray – were each named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars on Tuesday as the Musketeers continued an impressive streak of having multiple honorees in each year since 2010.
A total of 828 women's golfers across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III were recognized by the WGCA. The criteria for selection includes a minimum GPA of 3.50.
Crutchfield received the award for the fourth time, while Johnson earned her third honor. Murray was recognized for the second time.
A 2016 graduate, Crutchfield departs the program as its career scoring leader (76.12) and first-ever BIG EAST individual champion. The St. Petersburg, Fla. native had 21 top-10 finishes in her career.
Johnson appeared in all 11 events for XU as a junior this year, placing in the top-20 at two tournaments. She had a career-best 72 in the third round of the Rio Verde Invitational this year and averaged 80.5 for the season.
Murray was fourth on the team in stroke average (79.4) and competed in all 11 tournaments. As a sophomore, she had seven top-40 finishes and placed a season-best fifth at the Jan Weaver Invitational in April.
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents nearly 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
