Stockley comes to Musketeers from NCFC (Formerly Carolina RailHawks) and director of CASL
CINCINNATI – Xavier women's soccer head coach Kacey White announced the addition of Sam Stockley to the Xavier coaching staff as assistant coach.
"I could not be more excited to add Sam to the staff as he brings an incredible amount of knowledge and experience," said White. "He epitomizes the type of individual I want in our program, shares in the vision that I have for the future of Xavier Women's Soccer, and has an abundance of experience developing players at the highest levels, in both the professional and youth game."
Stockley joins the Musketeers from North Carolina F.C. (formerly the Carolina RailHawks) where he most recently served as an assistant to the First Team coach. Since joining Carolina's organization in 2012, Stockley also served as the director of the club's Elite Technique supplemental training programs, Summer Intensive program, Women's College Summer Training program, RET360* and served as lead of the Club affiliation program.
Stockley brings experience from the Capital Area Soccer League, most recently serving as the U11-14 Girls Classic Division program director. Stockley was also the ECNL U14 and U16 Girls head coach for CASL.
Prior to his time with CASL, Stockley was the director of the Triangle Futbol Club in Raleigh, N.C. He also served as an academy coach for several of his clubs during his playing career.
"Sam is not only a well-known and respected coach with an absolute passion for player development but also possesses a natural ability to connect with each player he works with on a daily basis," added White. "He is a competitive and enthusiastic individual, with a tireless work ethic that both current and future members of Xavier women's soccer will benefit from immensely."
As a player, Stockley made over 600 professional appearances on the pitch from 1996-2013 in Europe and North America. The defender started his career as a youth with the Southampton Football Club before making over 500 appearances in the English Football League.
Stockley came to the United States in 2011, spending a season with the USL's F.C. New York before joining the RailHawks as a player in 2012, earning the Carolina RailHawks Leadership Award in 2013. During his professional career, which spanned 17 years, Stockley was named Club Captain at six different organizations.
"I'm so excited to be able to work with Kacey again. She is without doubt one of the best coaches I've ever had the pleasure to work with and when she asked me to be her assistant and join her staff, I knew instantly it was the right move," said Stockley. "Xavier Women's soccer has so much potential and when Kacey shared her vision for the program I knew instantly it was something I wanted to be a part of. I cannot wait to arrive to campus and meet the players. Kacey has told me the work rate and levels thus far have been outstanding and to have an opportunity to build a winning, competitive culture in an area that has so much local talent is very exciting. I cannot wait to get started."
Stockley was born in Tiverton, England. He met his wife Anna in 2004 and they have a 10-year-old daughter, Esmé, and a five-year-old son, Jobe. His family is currently residing in Liverpool, England and will be moving to Cincinnati in the coming weeks.
