Musketeers collect six first place finishes facing off against host Jags and Ball State

INDIANAPOLIS - Xavier swimming opened up the spring schedule with a three-team meet at IUPUI with Ball State at the IUPUI Natatorium on Friday evening. The Musketeers took the top spot in six events in the first meet against outside competition of 2017.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Xavier's women opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.04.
Katie Kerr posted a pair of top-four finishes, in the 200 free (4th) and the 500 free (2nd).
Caroline Gaertner took second in the 100 fly.
Xavier accounted for two of the top three spots in the 100 back, led by Paxtyn Drew's second-place finish. Ali Fort placed third.
The Xavier women closed out the event with a first place finish in the 400 free relay for Abigail Garner, Paxtyn Drew, Gaertner and Emily Conners.
The Musketeers fell by final scores of 136-101 (IUPUI) and 170-67 (Ball State).

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Xavier's men opened the meet by out-touching the host Jags in the 200 medley relay to take first.
The Musketeers accounted for two of the top three spots in the 200 free, with Alex Wolfred taking second and Brandon Abboud taking third.
Knox Hitt took the top spot in the 100 fly.
Rodrigo Suriano used a time of 46.16 to take first in the 100 free.
Sam Johanns touched the wall first in the 100 fly with a time of 52.17.
Like the women, the Xavier men closed out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay.
Xavier topped Ball State, 151-76, while falling to IUPUI 151-85.

SWIM AT IUPUI by Xavier Musketeers on Exposure

UP NEXT

The Xavier women return to action in two weeks, traveling to Athens, Ohio on Saturday, January 21, when the Musketeers travel take on the host Bobcats and Duquesne at 1:00 p.m.
The men and the women are back in the pool the following day, heading to Fishers, Ind. for the Butler Invite on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 12:00 p.m. The seventh annual event will feature St. Louis, Southern Illinois, Bellarmine and Ball State in addition to Xavier and the Bulldogs.
