PEORIA, Ill. -Â Xavier cross country wrapped up regular-season action at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday night. Senior Madeline Britton highlighted the meet for the Musketeers as she placed ninth in the 6K race.
The women placed seventh out of 31 teams, while the men took 23rd (out of 27 teams). The women's race had 210 participants and the men's race had 181 runners.
Â
Madeline Britton - 9th (21:19.70)
Allison Sinning - 17th (21:30.30)
Jenna Clayworth - 34th (21.48.40)
Anna Kostarellis - 56th (22:12.00)
Jennifer Prial - 70th (22:20.30)
Â
"I put together a rather aggressive race plan for the women's team today so they could go for the win. I wanted to take some chances early on since this was our last race before the BIG EAST Championship. The women's team executed the plan really well but unfortunately the plan was a little too aggressive and we paid for it during the last 2KÂ of the race. We had some medical issues because of the heat which led to one of our top five not finishing the race and a few others really suffering too early in the race. Maddie Britton had a good rac,e but Allison Sinning had one of the best races of her life. She was on a mission today and everything seemed to just click."
Â
Garrett Knapik - 90th (26:24.90)
John Hautz - 110th (26:39.50)
Brady Harless - 134th (27:09.20)
Kevin Menyes - 147th (27:23.30)
Grayson Jenkins - 155th (27:36.00)
Â
"We didn't run to our potential today in either of the men's races. There were a few good performances individually, but the team outcome wasn't what I expected. We lost Ben early in the race to a back injury which really hurt in the team scoring. I thought Garrett had a great day. He looked very controlled through 5K, worked really hard to move up from there until 7K and was able to close well over the last 800. Jack also had a solid race."
