Goalkeeper, midfielder named to weekly honor roll after playing big parts in 1-0 win over Marquette
NEW YORK - Josh Grant and Colin Hanley were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, earning weekly honors from the league for their parts in a 1-0 victory for Xavier men's soccer this past Saturday against Marquette.Â
The win moved the Musketeers to 8-4-2 on the season and helped XU get back to .500 in league play (3-3). Xavier is currently in fourth place in the league standings with nine points.
Grant, a senior midfielder, scored the game-winning goal unassisted in the 49th minute for his second tally of the year. He is now fifth on the team with nine points this fall (2 G, 5 A).
Hanley made his first start in goal this season and kept a clean sheet, facing 10 shots and making two saves. It was his fifth career shutout.
The Musketeers return to the pitch on Wednesday, traveling to Chicago for a 1:00 p.m. match against DePaul at Wish Field. The match will be carried live by the BIG EAST Digital Network.
