
Dunham Leads Xavier to 66-45 Win Over Mount St. Mary's

CINCINNATI - Freshman Aaliyah Dunham scored a game-high 16 points on Tuesday night, leading the Xavier women's basketball team to a 66-45 win over Mount St. Mary's at Cintas Center. The Musketeers moved to 2-0 on the year, while the Mountaineers dropped to 0-2.
• Xavier never trailed in the game and opened the contest by outscoring the Mountaineers, 16-2, in the first quarter. The Musketeers limited Mount St. Mary's to only one field goal (1-for-15) in the first quarter. The last time Xavier held an opponent to one field in a quarter was on Feb. 4, 2017 at Butler (1-for-13 in the fourth quarter).
• Mount St. Mary's outscored Xavier, 14-13, in the second quarter to make the score 29-16 at the break. Xavier responded by hitting 72.7 percent (8-for-11) of its shot attempts in the third quarter to build a 49-32 advantage.
• The Musketeers kept up the hot shooting by connecting on 63.6 percent (7-for-11) of their attempts in the final quarter. Xavier led by as many as 25 points (66-41) at the 2:06 mark in the fourth quarter.
• Xavier held a 43-37 advantage on the glass, paced by freshman A'riana Gray who had game-high 10 rebounds. The forward was one point shy of her first career double-double as she had nine points on 3-for-6 shooting. The Musketeers also had four more blocks (6-2) than the Mountaineers with Gray pacing Xavier with two blocks.
• Freshman Aaliyah Dunham scored a game-high 16 points on 4-for-6 shooting with 13 points coming in the first half. She added two assists and two steals.
• Junior Imani Partlow added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Jada Byrd and Ashley Gomez both added seven points. Gomez chipped in a team-high three steals.
• Xavier also forced 17 turnovers, turning the miscues into 17 points. The Musketeers held a 32-14 advantage in bench points.
