PHOENIX - Xavier men's soccer alum and 2015 BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year Dallas Jaye has signed a professional contract to continue his career in the USL with Phoenix Rising FC, the club announced on Tuesday.
Jaye had spent the previous two seasons in the USL with FC Cincinnati.
Phoenix Rising FC is the highest-level professional soccer franchise in Arizona's history. Legendary Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba, Kona Grill CEO Berke Bakay and an impressive collection of business leaders and international celebrities, own the club. Established in 2013, Phoenix Rising FC is one of 12 cities applying for Major League Soccer expansion. In October 2017, Phoenix Rising FC acquired Premier Development League (PDL) side FC Tucson. The club currently plays in the United Soccer League, the largest Division 2 professional league in the world.
A transfer from USF, Jaye had a standout season in net for Xavier in 2015. The BIG EAST Co-Goalkeeper of the Year, Jaye was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and made 13 starts while allowing just nine goals for a school record 0.63 GAA. That number led the BIG EAST and ranked ninth in the nation. Jaye also tallied 44 saves and put together an .830 save percentage, which led the league and ranked 13th in the nation. Xavier was 10-3-1 with Jaye in goal as he posted six clean sheets and shared another.
Jaye was in goal for XU as the team knocked off No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 1 Creighton on the road, widely believed to be the first time any program has knocked off a No. 1 and No. 2 United Soccer Coaches ranked side on the road in the same season.
