Deja Ross Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

NEW YORK - Deja Ross was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Saturday after helping the Musketeers post a 2-1 record this week. Xavier ended non-conference play with a 7-4 record.
The freshman forward averaged 10.5 points per game with a .412 field-goal percentage (7-for-17). She was also went 5-for-13 from behind the arc. Ross added 6.0 rebounds per game, while also collecting three assists, one steal and one block.
She scored a season-high 13 points against No. 16 Missouri on Monday and added eight points and six rebounds in the win over FAMU.
Ross becomes the first Xavier player to earn BIG EAST Player of the Week honors since joining the conference in 2013-14.
Xavier opens BIG EAST action on Friday, Dec. 29 at Butler. The game will be aired nationally on FS2 at 7 p.m.
