Garrett Schilling Spectacular in First Career Start as XU Falls in Extras at Troy, 2-1

Schilling broke the XU record for saves as a sophomore and fired seven innings of one-run ball in his first career start on Saturday
TROY, Ala. - Garrett Schilling went a career-high seven innings in a dominant first career start, but Xavier baseball fell 2-1 in 10 innings at Troy on Saturday afternoon.
Schilling allowed a run in the first, but cruised afterwards. The junior righty only needed 72 pitches to get through seven, striking out five and allowing just three hits.
Conor Grammes continued his hot start with the bat, as the freshman provided XU's lone run with a two-out RBI double in the sixth.
The score stayed locked at 1-1 until the bottom of the 10th when Troy scored the winning run in walk-off fashion on a fielder's choice play.

• Mitch Gallagher (1-for-3) connected for a leadoff double in the fifth, the first hit of his Xavier career.
