Conor Grammes Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll After Standout Debut

Grammes hit .471 over four games at Troy this weekend
NEW YORK -Â Xavier baseball freshman Conor Grammes was recognized by the BIG EAST on Monday, earning a spot on the league's weekly honor roll after a standout debut weekend.
The freshman from McLean, Va. started all four games this past weekend, helping XU split a series at Troy by hitting .471 (8-for-17) with three runs, three doubles, a homer and five RBI.
Batting in the clean-up spot in the order, Grammes had multi-hit performances and at least one RBIÂ in each game of the weekend, tallying two hits in all four of his starts.
Carrying a hot bat all weekend, Grammes connected for his first career home run in Saturday's 8-2 win over the Trojans and led XU in doubles (3), hits (8), RBI (5) and total bases (14).
Grammes also made two appearances out of the bullpen, tossing 2.2 innings of scoreless relief and striking out two.
Xavier returns to action on Friday at 3 p.m., facing Penn State in the first of four games in Cary, N.C. First pitch of the series is scheduled for 3 p.m.
