Senior slugger hit two home runs, batted .353 during 2-3 week for XU
NEW YORK - Senior Joe Gellenbeck was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for a second consecutive week on Monday.
The Lebanon, Ohio native hit .353 (6-for-17) in a five-game week for Xavier at Georgia and Southern Miss, scoring three times and knocking in three runs. Among the national leaders in walks already, Gellenbeck worked his way on base with a walk four times to post a .500 on-base percentage for the week.
Overall, the right fielder tied for a team-high with six hits, three RBI and three runs scored. He also went a career-best 4-for-4 with three RBI, a run scored and a walk in an 8-7 win at SEC opponent Georgia on Wednesday.
Xavier returns to action on Wednesday afternoon, traveling to Louisville for a midweek game at 12 p.m.
