
Grammes Named BIG EAST Player of the Week, Lowther to Honor Roll After 3-1 Week

Freshman hit .571 with 12 total bases in 3-1 week for Musketeers
CINCINNATI - Xavier baseball freshman Conor Grammes was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Tuesday after hitting .571 in a 3-1 week for the Musketeers.
Junior lefty Zac Lowther was also named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after striking out a career-high 11 in a win over Ohio State on Friday.
Grammes, a native of McLean, Va., started all four games and led XU with eight hits, a .571 batting average (8-for-14), 12 total bases and an .857 slugging percentage. He also had three multi-hit games, including two three-hit games in a weekend sweep of Ohio State. The freshman also walked three times to post an impressive .647 on-base percentage.
Lowther, a native of Brooklyn Heights, Ohio, was honored after throwing six innings of one-hit, one-run ball against the Buckeyes in a 3-2 win on Friday. The southpaw struck out a career-high 11 in a dominant performance, holding OSU to a .063 batting average. He has now allowed just 13 hits in 26.2 innings this season to go with a 2.36 ERA.
The Musketeers return to action this afternoon against Wright State. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Hayden Field.
