Senior slugger hit two home runs in Sunday's series finale at Charlotte
NEW YORK - Senior slugger Joe Gellenbeck was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after hitting .364 (4-for-11)Â with two homers in a weekend series at Charlotte.
The Lebanon, Ohio native helped XU to a 7-6Â win in the Sunday finale, leaving the yard twice and knocking in three runs. It was the third two-homer game of his career.
For the weekend, he tied for a team-high with 10 total bases and a .462 on-base percentage while recording at least one hit in all three games.
Gellenbeck has reached base in all 11 games this season and leads XU with an eight-game hitting streak. His 11 walks this season rank 21st in the nation.
The Musketeers (5-6) continue their 10-day spring break trip with a 6 p.m. game at Georgia on Tuesday night.
