Zac Lowther Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll After Dominant Start at Villanova

Musketeer lefty struck out a career-high 16 and took a perfect game into the ninth at 'Nova
NEW YORK - Zac Lowther was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after posting one of the most dominant starts in school history last week at Villanova.
The junior lefty tied a career-high with eight innings and struck out a career-best 16 in a no decision against Villanova to open BIG EAST play.
Lowther took a perfect game into the ninth inning before surrendering a leadoff walk and exiting with 119 pitches.
The Brooklyn Heights, Ohio native was one strikeout off the Xavier school record and had the most K's by a Xavier pitcher since 1997.
It was Lowther's third straight game with double-digit strikeouts, as he has fanned 37 in his last 19.1 innings. He ranks 28th in NCAA Division I baseball with 62 strikeouts on the season.Â
For the season, Lowther ranks second in the nation with 13.95 strikeouts per nine innings and seventh nationally with 4.73 hits allowed per nine.
