Rylan Bannon Caps Big Weekend with BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors

Junior celebrated his birthday on Saturday with a 6-for-6 line against Butler
CINCINNATI - Junior Rylan Bannon capped off a tremendous weekend, earning BIG EAST Player of the Week honors on Monday after hitting .526 (10-for-19) for Xavier baseball.
During a 4-1 week, Bannon led the Musketeers with 10 hits, three homers, 19 total bases and nine RBI. He also homered in three of five games, increasing his season total to a team and BIG EAST-leading 12.
In an impressive single game performance, the Joliet, Illl. native celebrated his 21st birthday by going 6-for-6 in a 17-12 win over Butler on Saturday. Bannon scored twice and knocked in three with a homer during the game, recording the most hits by an XU player since at least 2004.Â
For the week, Bannon had at least one hit in all five games including a three-run homer on Tuesday in a 9-1 win over Cincinnati.
Yesterday, Bannon knocked in a run and scored the go-ahead run in a 3-2 win over Butler, clinching a weekend sweep for Xavier.
In BIG EAST play, Bannon is now hitting .452 (14-for-31) with three homers and nine RBI.
The Musketeers (24-17, 6-3 BIG EAST) get back to action on Wednesday, playing at the University of Kentucky in a 7 p.m. game.
