Junior third baseman honored for second straight week, third time this season after game-winning homer at Creighton
NEW YORK - Junior third baseman Rylan Bannon earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, picking up a weekly honor for the second straight week after a dramatic home run at Creighton on Friday night.
Despite a pair of canceled games over the weekend, Bannon hit a team-best .333 (2-for-6) in a 1-1 week at Creighton and No. 6 Kentucky. He also reached via a walk and two HBP's to post a .556 on-base percentage for the week.
Bannon's solo home run in Friday's 2-1 win over Creighton was his team and league-leading 13th of the year. It came in the top of the ninth inning and turned out to be the game-deciding run.
After 10 BIG EAST games, Bannon is now hitting .441 (15-for-34) with four homers and 10 RBI.
