Morrissey Top-10 Heading into Final Round at BIG EAST
05.01.17 | Men's Golf
CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Fox Morrissey is in the top-10 individually heading into the final round of the BIG EAST Championship tomorrow. The Musketeers, as a team, are in sixth. This morning, pouring rain slowed play, but the sun came out in the afternoon with significant windy conditions at Callawassie Island as the teams finished.
Matt Wetterich and Fox Morrissey had the best rounds of the day for Xavier, each shooting 76's (+4). The two seniors are tied for the team lead in birdies with six.
Eduardo Rivera Nicholls leads the team in pars with 20.
Daniel Jaramillo has played the par 5's even for the tournament, with three birdies.

t-13. Wetterich: 78, 76 [154, +10]
t-18. Rivera Nicholls: 74, 81 [155, +11]
t-30. Jaramillo: 78, 82 [160, +16]
41. Roberts: 84, 83 [167, +23]
The Musketeers sit in sixth place, three strokes back of Georgetown and six back of Butler and Marquette.
Tee times for Xavier begin tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. ET
McCants on the team's play:
"I'm glad the championship isn't over until tomorrow. Conditions weren't easy today, which contributed to some of our higher scores, but in golf you compete in difficult conditions sometimes. We're given another opportunity to put a nice round together and finish the year off like we should. A lot of good things can still happen for this team; there's a lot to play for."
McCant's on the final round tomorrow:
"Fox got off to another very good start today, which underscores how confidently he is playing right now. My expectations of him are that he will provide that same confident play tomorrow that the others can feed off of. Matt's been playing steady golf for us all year and I would love to see him finish the tournament tomorrow with his best golf yet. He is so dedicated, it would certainly be fitting if that were to happen. Eduardo and Daniel will rebound from today. Each of them has a tremendous amount of passion for the game and expect a lot of themselves. Hunter hasn't played his best this week, but I know he wants to post a good score tomorrow and finish the tournament the right way."
