"On the men's side, our goal as a team is to move up one spot from the indoor championship. We also have a number of individuals that should be in contention to win their event or events. Polk, Platt and Daniels all have a legit shot at hitting an NCAA 1st Round mark with a few other guys also on the cusp. The women's team has a similar goal and similar a similar situation with several individuals fighting for podium spots and NCAA marks."Â
Â
• The Musketeers posted 18 top-10 finishes at the BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships and set six school records on Feb. 24-25. Three athletes earned All-BIG EAST honors, highlighted by Russell Platt who was tabbed the the BIG EAST "Men's High Point Performer of the Meet" as he collected 28 points. All told, he has collected eight medals during his track and field career at Xavier.
• Last season at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the men's team finished sixth in the team standings, while the women placed eighth. Xavier broke two school records during the championship meet and had six student-athletes earn All-BIG EAST accolades.
• Zachary Polk won five medals (four silver, one bronze) at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships last year. The junior standout has collected 13 medals at the conference championship meets (indoor and outdoor) during his time at Xavier.
• Junior Madeline Britton qualified for the NCAA East Regional a year ago in the 10,000-meter run. The Bay Village, Ohio, native was the first Xavier athlete to qualify for the NCAA Regionals since Clare Fischer (10,000-meter run) and Tom Ohlman (3,000-meter steeplechase) in 2014.

Â
Â
Â
Â
Russell Platt
"Russ has a chance to repeat as the high point scorer at the championship but the real focus will be on hitting a NCAA First Round mark in the high jump."Â
Zachary Polk
"Zach can win every event he's entered in, he's just that talented. Similar to Russ, his primary focus will be to hit a 1st round mark in the long jump."
Nolan Daniels Â
"Nolan is in the most competitive event on the track this year for the BIG EAST Conference. He'll be up against Joseph White, who's ranked 7th in the nation along with a handful of other mid distance runners who have posted some of the best times in the NCAA East Regional. Nolan has two goals: Make finals and break 1:50 to give himself a chance at making it to NCAA East Regional."Â
4x100
We're still working out the final combination for this relay, but our guys have a great shot at winning the BIG EAST Championship in the 4x100."Â
Â
Madeline Britton
"Originally, I was going to redshirt Maddie during outdoor track but those plans have changed. She'll be making her 10k depute on Friday night with two goals in mind. Firstly, to help her team by scoring in the event and secondly, to run a time that will get her back to NCAA East Regional. Our initial plan is to focus on 1k at a time with a set pace in mind through 8k. After 8k she'll have the green light to hopefully chip away a few more seconds over the last 2k."
Gina GencoÂ
"Gina had the race of her life in California despite the fall with four laps to go. She'll be back in the steeple on Friday night to finish what she started. She's the third ranked steeple chaser in the BIG EAST so her goals will be to get on the podium and run sub 10:30 to lock in her spot for the NCAA East Regional."
Sydney Larkin
"As a senior I think Sydney is one of the most experienced 400 runners in the field. She's up against some great 400 meter runners but I think she's got a great shot at getting on the podium and breaking our outdoor track school record."
Kara RobinsonÂ
"Although she's just a sophomore, Kara's determination and focus are what make her race like a senior. She'll be taking on six events if all goes well so it will be a long weekend for Kara."
Karmen Auble
"Karmen has really grown in the multi's since high school and should make a podium chase in the pent this weekend." Â Â
Â
Xavier returns to action at the NCAA East Regional on May 25-27 in Lexington, Ky.
