Five Musketeers Earn All-BIG EAST Track and Field Honors

Xavier competed at the conference championships on May 12-13
NEW YORK – Five Xavier track and field athletes earned All-BIG EAST honors on Tuesday afternoon as announced by the conference office.
Xavier recently competed at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 12-13. The two-day meet was hosted by Villanova University at Jumbo Elliott Track and Field.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Chris Taylor, Zachary Polk, Matthew Bryant and Russell Platt took home gold medals in the event, posting a time of 41.79. Polk and Platt each collected three additional medals at the meet.
Polk also took home a gold medal in the 100-meter dash (10.79), while earning silver medals in the 200-meter dash (21.83) and the long jump (7.06m, 23-2.00). He was tabbed the "Men's High Point Performer of the Meet" as he collected 28.5 points. All told, Polk has now won 17 medals at the BIG EAST Championships (indoor and outdoor) during his career.
Platt added one silver medal and two bronze medals. The senior placed second in the high jump (2.00m, 6-6.75) and third in the 100-meter dash (10.82) and the 200-meter dash (21.88). He concluded his career with a total of 12 medals at the conference championships (indoor and outdoor).
Karmen Auble was the lone female athlete to earn All-BIG EAST honors. The junior standout earned a bronze medal in the heptathlon for the second time in as many BIG EAST Outdoor Championships. She collected 3,929 points over the two-day meet.
