Xavier unveils new court design as part of announcement
CINCINNATI - Xavier University is proud to announce that the Cintas Center playing floor is being renamed the Kohlhepp Family Court in honor of Bob Kohlhepp, the former Chairman and CEO of Cintas, and his family.
Â
"Bob Kohlhepp's leadership and generosity has been making a dramatic difference at Xavier for the past 30 years," said Michael J. Graham, S.J., president of Xavier University. "The positive influence of Bob and his family is simply impossible to overstate. Nowhere is it more visible than at the Cintas Center, so this is a fitting and special way to honor the Kohlhepp family."
Kohlhepp has had a tremendous impact on the entire Xavier University campus. The Cintas Center is the clearest example of his impact on athletics. His personal generosity and relentless drive was a force behind the creation of Cintas Center. Xavier's literal front porch has served as a gateway for thousands of events on campus and provided its athletic programs with an important home court - an integral piece to what helped catapult Xavier into the Big East Conference.
The Cintas Center is in the midst of a multi-year, $30-million renovation that is touching all areas of the building. The current construction projects will impact a number of seating and hospitality areas in the arena and adjust the official capacity to 10,224.
"The naming of the The Kohlhepp Family Court is a way of recognizing his impact," said Greg Christopher, Director of Athletics. "Whether supporting Xavier's students and teams in the stands, in their home or through their incredible generosity, Bob, Linda and the entire Kohlhepp family have had a remarkable and lasting effect on Xavier University."
Â
The Sr. Rose Ann Fleming Endowment for Student-Athlete Academic Advising and the Kohlhepp Family Auxiliary Gym in Cintas Center are a few of the many lasting reminders of the stamp he has left on every area of the athletics program.
Â
Kohlhepp, who received his MBA from Xavier in 1971, started at Cintas in 1967, serving in various executive capacities including Vice President – Finance until 1979 when he became Executive Vice President. He served in that capacity until October 23, 1984, when he was elected President, a position he held until July 1997. Kohlhepp became Chief Executive Officer on August 1, 1995, and served in that capacity until he became Vice Chairman of the Board in July 2003. He took over as Chairman of the Board in 2009 and held that position until his retirement in September of 2016.
Kohlhepp, who is completing his 28th year as a member of Xavier's Board of Trustees, began his service in September of 1989 and was chairman of the board from 2009-14. He currently chairs the Xavier Athletics Leadership Advisory Committee.
