
Xavier Tennis Standout Honored by BIG EAST Conference

Cristina Di Lorenzo was named as the 2016-17 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award winner for women's tennis
NEW YORK -Â Cristina Di Lorenzo, 2017 Xavier University graduate, was named as the 2016-17 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award winner for women's tennis. The awards are given to one student-athlete in each BIG EAST sponsored sport based on academic credentials, athletic achievements and community service.

In the classroom, Di Lorenzo finished her Xavier career with a bachelor's degree in Finance with a minor in International Business and a cumulative GPA of 3.957. She was also the recipient of the Xavier's 2017 Medal of Honor and Excellence in Finance Award and made the dean's list every semester.

On the tennis court, she was equally impressive. Di Lorenzo finished with an overall record of 165-67, which is good for fourth all-time, along with top-10 career numbers in singles wins (90 – 5th) and doubles wins (75 – 10th). Di Lorenzo, a two-time All-BIG EAST Team member (2016 and 2017), helped lead the Xavier to its first BIG EAST Tournament championship and first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in 2016.

Di Lorenzo was active in community service work as well, particularly through her role on SAAC, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
