
Cameron Taylor Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

Redshirt junior tallied twice, helped XU defense hold Drake to five shots on Sunday
NEW YORK – Cameron Taylor was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for men's soccer after scoring twice and helping XU to a dominant shutout win over Drake on Sunday.
The redshirt junior from Indianapolis, Ind. picked up his first player of the week honor from the conference after scoring XU's first goal in both matches on Friday and Sunday.
Overall, Taylor played 184 minutes in a 1-1 week and helped anchor a Musketeer defense that limited Drake and Loyola Chicago to just 16 shots. In Sunday's 3-0 shutout win, Taylor and the XU backline held the Bulldogs to just five attempts.
With his two goals, Taylor has already matched his scoring output from the entire 2016 season and leads XU in scoring after two matches.
Xavier hits the road for its next three matches, heading to the Boston area this coming weekend for matchups against Harvard and Boston College. XU faces Harvard on Friday, Sept. 1 at 4:30 p.m. and remains in town to face off with BC on Monday, Sept. 4 at 1 p.m.
