Freshman Garrett Wood in Top 10 for Men's Golf After Day One at Bearcat Invitational

CINCINNATI – Freshman Garrett Wood paced Xavier men's golf with a strong 5-under day, completing two rounds in a tie for 10th overall.

The freshman from Mason, Ohio shot 1-over in the day's first round before and was even through 27 holes before a blistering afternoon back nine saw Wood shoot a 5-under 30 to finish with a 65 (-6).

Wood was 4-under for the day on par 4's, tying for third in the field.

Another freshman, Robbie Keyes, paced the Musketeers with 24 par holes en route to a 4-over day and a tie for 44th position.

Martin Jaramillo tied Wood for the team lead with nine birdies and placed in a tie for 49th with a 5-over day of 147.

Daniel Jaramillo finished the day 4-under on par 5's and in a tie for 57th with rounds of 77 (+6) and 71 (E).

Fox Morrissey (+7) and Imaad Qureshi (+9) rounded out the team scoring for XU.

The Musketeers finished the day 8-over collectively and tied for 11th in the field, shooting 576 (294, 282) total across the two rounds.

Kentucky leads the field at 18-under.
