Women's Cross Country Wraps Up Action at Louisville Classic
09.30.17 | Cross Country
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Xavier women's cross country wrapped up action at the Louisville Classic on Saturday morning at E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The team placed 16th out of 37 NCAA Division I teams.
Xavier competed in the Gold Division Race, the more competitive of the two women's college races at the meet. The Musketeers competed against seven nationally ranked teams: Boise State (13th), Wisconsin (18th), Minnesota (20th), Vanderbilt (25th), Furman (29th), West Virginia (33rd) and Louisville (36th).
Â
Madeline Britton - 62nd (17:37.70)
Jenna Clayworth - 69th (17:41.52)
Anna Kostarellis - 81st (17:46.91)
Allison Sinning - 101st (17:56.54)
Jennifer Prial - 164th (18:25.76)
Â
"As a team we definitely under performed today. We missed on almost all of the goals that we set for ourselves to accomplish at this meet. Our top female runner was about 40 places off and our 5th was about 60 places off. There isn't anything in particular that I can attribute that to but things just didn't come together. I know we're a much better team than how we ran today and I'm going to spend the next two weeks figuring out what we need to adjust before The Bradley Classic."Â Â
Â
"Individually, Jenna and Anna both ran well. They finished in the place range that I gave them before the race and both ran personal bests for 5K. It was great to see how well they worked together during the race. Although they're freshmen, they both ran very composed and handled the pressure of the meet well."

• The Musketeers return to action at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday, Oct. 13 in Peoria, Ill.
