Xavier Baseball Teams Up with Vs. Cancer for 2018 Fundraiser
01.19.18 | Baseball
CINCINNATI – Xavier baseball has teamed up with the Vs. Cancer Foundation this year to raise money to fight cancer nationally, as well as at home in Cincinnati.
This year the team will support the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and will be collecting donations from now until April 22 when members of the program have pledged to shave their heads in support of the cause.
The head-shaving will occur following Xavier's home game against Creighton on Sunday, April 22 at Noon.
All are welcome to contribute and the funds raised will go directly towards childhood cancer research, split between child life programs at local hospitals and national pediatric brain tumor research.
Xavier baseball participated in the event during the 2016 and 2014 season, raising over $25,000 for the cause. Those funds were, in part, used to help the Vs. Cancer organization make a $100,000 gift to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. With the donation, Cincinnati Children's Hospital was assisted in being able to establish its Proton Therapy Center, one of only two such centers in the world owned by a children's hospital.
Fans wishing to support this season's fundraising efforts can donate online.
