
Women's Soccer Announces 2018 Signing Class

Nate Lie adds a deep class for Fall 2018
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer head coach Nate Lie announced the 2018 spring signing class on Wednesday afternoon.
"We are excited about the infusion of athleticism, depth and versatility that this class brings," said Lie. "It's comprised of high-character student athletes, who should add to the existing character and fabric of our program."   Â
The incoming class will join the Musketeers for the 2018 Fall season.
Grace Brauer is a forward/midfielder from Belleville, Ill. She joins Xavier from Belleville East High School. Brauer also played club for St. Louis Scott Gallagher.
Â
At Belleville East, Brauer totaled over 50 goals during her career, earning captain as a senior. She was the three-time offensive player of the year, and was named All-State after a 29-goal junior season.

Brauer plans to major in Business at Xavier. She is the daughter of Cari and Keith Brauer. She has three older siblings, Candice, Keith and Lilly. Lilly plays soccer at Webster University.

Rachel Butler is a midfielder from Dublin, Ohio. She played four years of varsity soccer at Dublin Jerome High School. Butler also played with Club Ohio Soccer and Classics Eagles.

At Dublin Jerome, Butler led the team in scoring as both a freshman and senior, totaling 26 goals and 14 assists during her final season. She was named the team's MVP on offense and earned first team all-conference in the Ohio Capital Conference (OCC). During her time on the squad, Jerome was four-time OCC champions, two-time district champions and regional finalists.

Butler is the daughter of Susan Windle and Brian Butler.

Elise Crew is a defender/forward from Cincinnati. She joins Xavier from Turpin High School. She also played with Kings Hammer and Cincinnati Development Academy.

With Turpin High School, Crew was first team Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC) as a junior. As a junior, she was also an All-Southwest Ohio selection and was team MVP for a squad that was a sectional finalist. As a sophomore, she was second-team ECC on the conference and district championship squad who advanced to the regional semifinals.

Crew plans to major in Communication Arts at Xavier. She is the daughter of Brad and Adrienne Crew and has two siblings, Brody and Lauren.

 Rachel Dewey is a midfielder from Indianapolis, Ind. She played four years of varsity for Triton Central High School. Dewey also played club for the Indiana Fire Juniors.

At Triton Central, Dewey was All-District First team and team captain. She earn all Indiana Crossroads Conference honors each year of high school. During her time at Triton Central the team was three-times sectional champions, winning the regional championships in 2014 and 2017.

Dewey is the daughter of Eric and Elizabeth Dewey. She has two older siblings, Samantha and Cole, and a younger brother, Levi. Samantha is a current member of Xavier's women's soccer team. Levi played soccer for Georgetown College.

Hayley Jakovich is a defender from Eureka, Mo. She spent four years on the varsity squad at Eureka High School. Jakovich also played club for St. Louis Scott Gallagher.

At Eureka High School, Jakovich was First Team All-State and All-Conference in the Suburban West Conference in 2016-17. She earned the title of State Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and was named to the All-Midwest Team for the state championship-winning team. With St. Louis Scott Gallagher ECNL, the team is currently 17-0 on the season and No. 1 in the ECNL Champions League Post Season Standings.

Jakovich is the daughter of Kim and Frank Jakovich. Her father played basketball for SIUE.
Â
Olivia Jenkins is a goalkeeper from Plainfield, Ill. She comes to Xavier from Plainfield East High School and has experience playing club for Eclipse Select Soccer Club and FC United (IL).

As a junior, Jenkins' Plainfield East team went 12-8-1 with her senior season upcoming this spring. Jenkins also plays basketball for Plainfield East, earning All-Area third team honors in 2016.

Jenkins played the 2015 and 2016 club seasons with the Eclipse Selection Soccer Club (IL) in USYSA and in the ECNL in 2017.
Jenkins plans to double major in Biophysics and Economics at Xavier. She is the daughter of Annmarie and Scott and has a younger sister, Anna.

Makenna Jordahl is a forward from Loveland, Ohio. She spent three years on the varsity squad at St. Ursula and has experience playing for Kings Hammer Academy and Cincinnati Development Academy.

At St. Ursula, Jordahl totaled 17 goals and 19 assists while playing defender, midfield and forward. Her eight goal, 10 assist junior season made her the third leading scorer in the Girls Greater Cincinnati League, and she also earned DI second team honors and was named an All Star by the Cincinnati Enquirer. With Cincinnati Development Academy, she was in the top 10 for scorers in the national league in the u18 division for 2017.

Jordahl will major in Exercise Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Scott and Pamela Jordahl. Her father played soccer at Wilmington. Jordahl has an older sister, Haley, who plays soccer at Wake Forest.

Allison Klimkowski is a defender from Centerville, Ohio. She spent three years on varsity at Centerville High School and has club experience playing for Ohio Elite ECNL.

With Centerville High School Klimkowsi earned All-State Second Team, Â and All-Area, Miami Valley South GWOC All Conference honors and was named to the GWOC National Division First team, earning her squads most valuable player award. She is a captain for both her varsity squad and her club squad. With Ohio Elite, she was part of the 2016 team that placed second in the North American League ECNL National Playoffs.

Klimkowski plans to major in Nursing at Xavier. She is the daughter of Jennifer Maley and Jim Klimkowski. She has three brother, Nick, Thomas and Luke.

Abbie Laufersweiler is a defender from Dublin, Ohio. She played four years of varsity for Dublin Jerome High School and has club experience playing for Ohio Premier.

With Dublin Jerome, Laufersweiler earned first team all-district and all OCC honors for a squad that has won four conference championships. During her time there, Jerome was also district champions twice and regional finalists. She was twice named the team's most valuable defender.

Laufersweiler plans to major in Sports Marketing at Xavier. She is the daughter of Mark and Annie Laufersweiler. She has three older brothers, Sam, John and Michael.

Jenna Leslie is a defender from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. She played for Nelson High School and the Burlington Bayhawks.
Â
Going into her senior season at Nelson, Leslie has earned the team MVP award and was named the junior Female Athlete of the Year. The team was twice finalist in the Halton Conference.
Leslie also played volleyball and basketball and ran cross country and track and field at Nelson High School.
Â
With her club team, Leslie was Canadian National Finalists and Ontario Cup Champions in 2017. IN 2016 the Bayhawks were Quebec Ontario Champions and the squad earned three straight Ontario youth Soccer League championships with a three-year record of 40-1-5.

Leslie plans on majoring in Sports Management at Xavier. She is the daughter of Matt and Sue Leslie. She has a sister, Vanessa.

Molly McLaughlin is a midfield from Granger, Ind. She has experience playing for Penn High School as well as Crossfire Select in Seattle, Wa., and Indiana Fire club programs.

At Penn, McLaughlin totaled 24 goals and 15 assists. She was a two-time team captain in 2016 and 2017 for a back-to-back state championship squad. The 2017 Penn High School team finished 23-0-1 and participated in the Max preps Tour of Champions, finishing as the top ranked team in the country.

McLaughlin plans on majoring in Sports Management. She is the daughter of Jim and Margaret McLaughlin. Jim played men's volleyball at UCSB and is the current head coach of Notre Dame women's volleyball. Margaret played soccer at Notre Dame. She has two sisters, Megan and Marit. Megan is currently a member of Notre Dame's women's soccer team.

Olivia Popovich is a defender from Mason, Ohio. She played for Mason High School, and played club for Cincinnati United Premier and Cincinnati Development Academy.
With Mason, Popovich was part of the 2017 District Championship squad which advanced to the DI Regional Semifinals. She was named to the first team of the 2017 Ohio Girls Soccer All-Star by the Cincinnati Enquirer. Popovich also played softball at Mason.

With Cincinnati United Premier, Popovich is part of the top ranked team in the Ohio South Division and the No. 2 team in Region 2 after taking first in the Midwest Regional League in Spring 2017 and second in the USYSA National League in 2016. With Cincinnati Development Academy, Popovich played three games so far in the 2017-18 season, starting in a pair.

Reagan Norvell is a forward from Raleigh, N.C. She spent four years on varsity at Leesville Road High School and played club for CASL in North Carolina.

Heading into her senior season, Norvell is part of a Leesville Road team that has collected 53 wins over the past three seasons, including winning the CAP-8 Conference championship in 2016.

With CASL, Norvell earned a trip to the State Cup Final Four in 2016 and 2017, and plays in the National League for the 2017-18 season.

Norvell plans to major in Exercise Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Dana and Bill Norvell. Bill played football at Chowan College. Norvell has a brother, Bryce, and a half-sister, Meagan.

Jordan Reddington is a midfielder from Mason, Ohio. She played for Mason High School, and has club experience from Cincinnati Untied Premier and Cincinnati Development Academy.

Reddington started at midfield for Mason for three seasons, earning first team all Greater Miami Conference and Southwest Ohio Region. She was named the Cincinnati Enquirer Athlete of the Week. In 2017, she was part of Mason's district championship team.

Reddington also played two years of varsity basketball at Mason, including playing for the state runners-up in 2016.

Reddington plans to major in Biomedical Science. She is the daughter of Eric Reddington and Sarah Hudak and has a brother, Josh.

Brooke Sroka is a forward from Raleigh, N.C. She played at Leesville Road High School and has club experience with CASL in North Carolina.

At Leesville Road, Sroka is a three-year member of the varsity squad going into her senior season. She's coming off a 10-goal, eight assist junior season in which her team went 19-3-2. She earned all-region honors as a junior.

With CASL, she is part of a team that has gone to back-to-back State Cup Final fours. Â

Sroka plans on majoring in Business. She is the daughter of Lisa and Jerry Sroka. Her father played college hockey. She has a brother Thomas, and sister, Brianna.

Caroline Welsh is a goalkeeper from Cincinnati. She spent four years on varsity at Turpin High School and played club for Cincinnati United Premier and Cincinnati Development Academy.

At Turpin, Welsh finished with a save percentage of 89 percent through her four-year career. She was part of two district championship teams, an ECC Championship team and a regional finalist squad.

With her club squad, she was a State Cup Finalist and MRL 1 Champion in 2017.

Welsh plans on majoring in Biomedical Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of William and Elizabeth Welsh. William played basketball at St. Thomas University. Welsh has a younger sister, Sophie.
