No. 1 Seed Xavier Will Play No. 16 Seed Texas Southern In NCAA First Round Action

Musketeers open NCAA Tournament pay on Friday.
CINCINNATI --- No. 1 seed Xavier, 28-5 overall, will play No. 16 seed Texas Southern on Friday at 7:20 p.m. ET in Nashville, Tenn. The game will be broadcast on TBS and 700 WLW.

• Xavier, a 2017 NCAA Elite Eight team, has secured its fifth straight NCAA Tournament berth and its 12th in the last 13 years; only eight schools have been to at least 12 of the last 13 NCAA Tournaments.
• Xavier is a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. XU's previous high was a No. 2 seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
• Xavier is one of six (out of 10 teams) in the BIG EAST Conference to make the 2018 NCAA Tournament field. Seven of 10 made the 2017 field.
• Xavier ninth-year head coach Chris Mack has led XU to eight NCAA Tournaments in nine years, including four Sweet 16 appearances. XU made the 2017 Elite Eight. Mack, the 2018 BIG EAST Coach of the Year, is XU's all-time wins leader at 214-96.
